Book Launch Q&A: Donna Dechen Birdwell Author of Song Of All Songs #booklaunch

When Donna Dechen Birdwell was about ten years old, she became obsessed with the idea that if she was thinking with her brain, she ought to be able to think how it works! She’s been trying to wrap her mind around reality (and how humans experience it) ever since. She made a career out of anthropology—that utterly boundless science of humankind and how we got here—and then sidestepped into Buddhist philosophy and then art and photography and writing stories that tend to fall somewhere in the neighborhood of speculative and/or science fiction. She’s a big fan of Ursula LeGuin and N.K. Jemisin.

In her EarthCycles series, Donna imagines a far, far future world in which pockets of survivors of a global apocalypse have evolved new ways of being human.

Title: SONG OF ALL SONGS: EARTHCYCLES BOOK ONE
Author: Donna Dechen Birdwell
Publisher: Wide World Home
Pages: 375
Genre: Science Fiction

BOOK BLURB:

Long after the apocalypse, Earth has repeopled itself. Twice.

Despised by her mother’s people and demeaned by her absent father’s legacy, Meridia has one friend—Damon, an eccentric photologist. When Damon shows Meridia a stone he discovered in an old photo bag purchased from a vagrant peddler, she is transfixed. There’s a woman, she says, a dancing woman. And a song. Can a rock hold a song? Can a song contain worlds? Oblivious of mounting political turmoil, the two set out to find the old peddler, to find out what he knows about the stone, the woman, and the song. But marauding zealots attack and take Damon captive, leaving Meridia alone. Desolate. Terrified. Yet determined to carry on, to pursue the stone’s extraordinary song, even as it lures her into a journey that will transform her world.

PRAISE

“When anthropologist Donna Dechen Birdwell turns her keen sense of how societies evolved in the past toward imagining a post-apocalyptic future, the result is a thoughtful, nuanced, intelligent thriller.” — Robert J. Sawyer, Hugo Award-winning author of The Oppenheimer Alternative

“Song of All Songs is a beautifully written and richly realized vision of the future, informed by a deep understanding of humanity.” — Christopher Brown, Campbell and World Fantasy Award-nominated author of Tropic of Kansas and Failed State

“An immersive and visceral vision of the future. This first installment of the EarthCycles series plays out as both a wonderful adventure and a well-crafted prophecy. The economy of language in certain moments is striking, while the poetic flow in other passages makes this novel a delicious pleasure to consume. This rare blend of naked imagination, careful storytelling, poetic flair, and meticulous language is reminiscent of Ursula K. Le Guin at her best. Showcasing the speculative fiction of a wildly gifted author, Song of All Songs is a very special book – an enigmatic and inventive treasure, and certainly not one to be missed.” –-Self-Publishing Review

After your book was released, what was the first thing you did when getting ready for your book launch?

Launching a new book in the middle of a global pandemic is not recommended! But since that was not something under my control, I contacted my favorite local indie bookstore (Malvern Books, Austin, Texas) and arranged for them to host my launch on Zoom. I also contacted organizers of our local science fiction/fantasy convention, ArmadilloCon, and they agreed to help publicize my launch, which I had scheduled to coincide with the first evening of their virtual convention.

After that, what was your next step?

Having watched a few other virtual book launches, I decided that I needed to be interviewed by someone rather than just do a cold reading and answer questions. I contacted another local author and she agreed to participate—she was wonderful, and I’m forever grateful! Another thing I did was consult with experts on how to make my virtual presence for the event as effective as possible. I learned a lot about lighting and backgrounds and camera placement for Zoom!

Did you do anything different to spice up your website in view of your upcoming book release?

The landing page for my website is always kept up to date with my latest news and event information. I was able to add a couple of very flattering “puffs” from established authors who had read my ARC. I used those puffs also on new headers for my Facebook page and Twitter profile.

Did you ever consider using a PR agency to help you promote your book or did you prefer the DIY route?

PR people are only useful if they fully understand who you are as an author and the kind of readers you’re trying to reach. You’re really the best authority on that, so DIY—challenging as it is—has been my route.

What are your views on social media for marketing your book?

Social media visibility and engagement are absolutely essential. Social media doesn’t sell books, but it’s still indispensable!

Did you set up book signings and, if so, how did that work for you?

Given the pandemic, in-person book signings were out of the question. However, I did place a number of signed copies of my book with the bookstore that was hosting my launch.

Did you time your book launch around a certain holiday?

I did not time it around a holiday, but I did time it to coincide with the opening of ArmadilloCon, the big Austin, Texas, convention for science fiction and fantasy writers. I picked up a number of attendees through their publicity.

What was the best money you ever spent on your book launch?

This particular book launch, being virtual, did not require a huge outlay. I did pay to upgrade my evite account so that invitations wouldn’t be burdened with ads. In the past, I’ve spent money on book-themed refreshments for guests at a launch event. I’m looking forward to being able to do that again!

Any tips for those authors wanting to set up a successful book launch?

I think it’s important to prioritize your distribution of invitations. I sent evites to a select group of friends and fans and continued interacting with this group in the lead-up to the launch. The evites were followed up a couple of days later with an invitation sent to my entire list of newsletter recipients. After that had gone out, I set up the public event on my Facebook page.

I would also note that there were aspects of my Zoom launch that I really liked. I was able to include attendees from all across the US as well as friends from Hawaii, Korea, and Bali! What I’d like to do for my next book is a hybrid launch that incorporates the best of virtual in addition to the virtues of an in-person event with actual hugs and book signing and refreshments.

About the Book:
REFRAMING POVERTY: NEW THINKING AND FEELING ABOUT HUMANITY’S GREATEST CHALLENGE
Eric Meade
Canyon House Press
212 pages
Nonfiction

We typically view poverty as a technical problem we can solve with more money, more technology, and more volunteers. But there is an adaptive side to the problem of poverty as well. Reframing Poverty directs our attention to the emotional and often unconscious mindsets we bring to this issue. Meade’s approach is as unique as it is challenging. Rather than trite tips or tricks, he offers a series of nested insights from diverse fields like political science, physics, complexity theory, and psychology. Most importantly, he provides a path of self-exploration for those eager to become the kind of people who can successfully navigate the tensions of a world in need.

After your book was released, what was the first thing you did when getting ready for your book launch?

I started choosing a venue. I knew I wanted someplace cozier than a bookstore, and that I wanted the event itself to be special. I thought of the O St. Mansion in DC, which is a funky row of connected townhouses near Dupont Circle in DC. The place is full of unique rooms, priceless memorabilia, and hidden doors and passageways, all of which creates a great vibe for “reframing.” There was something a bit ironic about holding a book launch for a book called Reframing Poverty in a venue with “mansion” in its name, but anyone who’s been to the O St. Mansion would know how great a fit it was.

After that, what was your next step?

The next step was putting together the invitation list. I had lived in the DC area until about a year and
a half before the book launch, so this was a great opportunity to see old friends. I also invited people I did not know as well, but who would likely be interested in the content. So the book launch created some new relationships for me.

Did you write a press release and do you think it worked for you?

I did write a press release, but my sense is that the media aren’t interested in a book launch on its own. I think it is more useful to link the book to current events that are newsworthy in their own right.

What was the best money you ever spent on your book launch?

The best money I spent was probably the cost of the venue (the O St. Mansion), which was very reasonable. I really saw my book launch as an opportunity to celebrate my accomplishment of publishing the book, and to do so in a nice place with good friends and some new acquaintances. Getting together in a cozy but funky setting conducive to great conversations was a big part of the launch’s success.

Any tips for those authors wanting to set up a successful book launch?

I did a brief (around 20-min) sit-down book talk as part of the launch. It included short passages from the book and Q&A from the audience. The feedback I got was that people really appreciated the Q&A, since that’s where my excitement about the book really came through. So if I were doing it again, I would probably read less from the book and get to the Q&A more quickly.

This mystical adventure follows a young adventure-seeker named Luther McCleron on a westward journey to learn more about his Grandfather. A series of fateful missteps take Luther far from his
destination to a disheveled little town under the tyranny of a crooked sheriff named Big Willie. It’s here that Luther comes face-to-face with the legendary ghost of Monty: a curmudgeonly ghost who refuses to believe he’s dead. Luther just wants to get back to his quest, but Monty thwarts his plans by using Luther to take out his vengeance on Big Willie.

Through a catastrophic string of events, Luther and Monty find themselves hopelessly entangled in a combative partnership that escalates to the breaking point. Only by reconciling their differences are they able to uncover the profound connections that weave their fates together.

A mysterious book of premonitions, an ominous crow, and ancient Indian drive the mystical tone of this world; conjuring spiritual forces to help steer Luther on his journey through this western “twilight zone.”

All the loose ends resolve in a satisfying story of redemption, loyalty and ascension while exploring the mysterious nature of fate and destiny. Was all of this a coincidence? Or are we guided by ancient “spirits on the wind” that nudge and steer us along our path to assure that we arrive safely at our intended destination in the end?

5 out of 5 stars
A fantastic and Immersive adventure for everyone.
What a wonderful audio book and what a pleasure it was to be on this journey. Not only the adventure was captivating but also everything around it. The sounds effect and voices really bring it all together, you almost feel like you are right there witnessing all this first hand. The production quality is something I have never heard before. Very well done and I highly recommend it.

After your book was released, what was the first thing you did when getting ready for your book launch?

Being new to all this, we really didn’t think ahead toward the inevitable marketing task. Between my writing partner (Roger Vizard) and myself, our primary focus was to complete the writing project, and follow that up with the production of the audio drama. Focusing on the creative was our first and only priority. We were just playing it one step in front of the next, and certainly didn’t want to interrupt the creative flow by getting ahead of ourselves. Only upon completion of the project did we start pulling the social media campaign together. But as you probably know – that process should have started much sooner.

In fairness to us though, I should say that publishing was not our intended end game. This story was written as a screenplay, destined to make its rounds through the Hollywood circuit. Only after the project was complete did we have the idea of self-publishing. The idea was to create an organic following – a groundswell of our own with a real audience before circling back through the studios.

But if publishing is your goal from the outset, then I would certainly recommend stirring the marketing pot as early in the writing process as possible to build anticipation for your release. It never hurts to keep those channels cooking.

After that, what was your next step?

Once the audiobook was released, we were provided with promo codes from Audible for the purpose of acquiring reviews. Reviews are starting to come in now, and great to see how well it is being received!

Right now we are “traveling” on the PUYB Virtual Book Tour. I’m enjoying the process of writing the guest blogs, and doing interviews like these. It’s been a cathartic experience, reflecting on the process, and sharing lessons learned along the way. I want to express my gratitude to the blogspots like these who are interested in hosting our stories, and helping us get the word out there!

Did you do anything different to spice up your website in lieu of your upcoming book release?

I’m always keeping the website up to date, and embellishing it as new developments occur. The landing page for this project is a subset of my personal home page, so I try to keep everything indexed in one place. Now that I am doing these guest blogs, I will be updating the site to include these blog links as well. https://www.dschaub2.com/

https://www.dschaub2.com/other-projects

Did you ever consider using a PR agency to help you promote your book or did you prefer the DIY route?

No PR agency, but I wouldn’t rule it out next time around. Being blissfully ignorant, we took the DIY route in our marketing campaign without realizing what a big job it really is! But as with any outside help, you get what you pay for. In searching around, you’ll find lots of PR enticements online. Just be careful. Remember that for a reasonable price, you will get reasonable results… if that.

As amazing as your project may be, no one is gong to care about your work as much as you do – unless you can make it financially worth someone’s while to do so. I’ve been disappointed by well-meaning marketers and spokespeople in the past. Unless you are paying these people well, you simply cannot expect the same level of service and commitment that you are providing for yourself. It would be great to have the budget to fully engage an experienced marketer. But in lieu of that, we are on our own to come up with our own creative strategies.

Were finding reviews a top priority for you and, if yes, how did you approach that? Reviews are definitely a top priority, and we are anxiously seeking more. The response has been great so far, and we’d love to keep them coming in.

Given the entertainment value - with a full cast and musical score – it’s a really easy and fun listen for a frustrating commute in traffic (2 hr, 47 min) – straight-up entertainment for the listener… no reading required! Here are the reviews so far: https://tinyurl.com/audible-us

**  So with that in mind ** we still have promo codes available (US & UK) for anyone interested in a free copy in exchange for an honest review on Audible.com ;-)

Feel free to reach me directly here, while codes are still available: dschaub2@gmail.com We’d love to have new listeners chime in, and get behind us on this journey!

What are your views on social media for marketing your book?

Social media offers enormous opportunities for authors. In hindsight, I would have jumped onto the social media bandwagon much sooner. You definitely don’t need to wait until your book is complete to start your promotional push.

If you already have a following, it’s easy to build anticipation for your work-in-progress.

Upon release, it’s a simple matter of unleashing it onto your loyal band of followers.

They will happily devour what they have been eagerly anticipating. Seems like a no-brainer now!

What social media has worked best for you?

Being visually oriented, I personally found Twitter a little under-stimulating… so an Instagram feed is a more practical solution for me. It’s a new account, so I don’t have the benefit of years of engagement, but it’s slowly growing a following.

I’ve been uploading content every week - documenting our journey from writing, to recording, toward our ultimate goal of producing an animated feature down the road: https://www.instagram.com/moviemethods/

I thought it would be entertaining to post the twists, turns and writing inspiration as we go. I’m sure there will be lots of discoveries, insights and takeaways on the bumpy road ahead. So please FOLLOW, and share the adventure with us. It’ll be a fun ride, for sure!

Did you revamp your author’s page at Amazon in any way to prepare for the launch ?

Nothing to revamp, but newly created to support this project:
https://www.amazon.com/David-Schaub/e/B07XTR66VR

Did you create a book trailer?

There is an audio trailer/sample at Audible:
https://tinyurl.com/audible-us

We haven’t done a video trailer yet, but hope to do so in the form of an animated short down the road. In the meantime, I think the audio excerpt serves its function as a trailer that sets the tone and mood for the wild and wacky adventure that follows.

Did you time your book launch around a certain holiday?

There was no intended correlation to the holiday-season release. Timing worked out as it did, so I realize we launched into some very busy holiday traffic. But the tour has been extended beyond the holiday season, and wrapping up at the end of January.

What was the best money you ever spent on your book launch?

It’s hard to know at this early stage, as we are still gaining momentum. I’d say the book tour makes the most sense, since we can get word out through multiple sources this way.

Any tips for those authors wanting to set up a successful book launch?

Take a step back, and make sure your expectations are realistic. As noted earlier, we really didn’t know what to expect going in. And if you think writing is a challenge, wait until you get to the marketing part!

I think we are somewhat caught up on social media now. I will continue contributing to the Instagram feed and take advantage of other marketing opportunities that present themselves along the way. With that in place, we’ll move forward on a slow burn to get awareness up before circling back through the studio system – ideally with a loyal band of supporters on our side. It is certainly a new approach toward the goal of producing an animated feature, but an angle worth exploring. Please join us in the charge! And thanks for your interest in the journey!

Book Launch Q&A: Kiran Bhat, Author WE OF THE FORSAKEN WORLD #booklaunch @pumpupyourbook

Kiran Bhat was born in Jonesboro, Georgia to parents from villages in Dakshina Kannada, India. An avid world traveler, polyglot, and digital nomad, he has currently traveled to more than 130 countries, lived in 18 different places, and speaks 12 languages. He currently lives in Melbourne, Australia.

Website  → http://iguanabooks.ca/

The Internet has connected – and continues to connect – billions of people around the world, sometimes in surprising ways. In his sprawling new novel, we of the forsaken world, author Kiran Bhat has turned the fact of that once-unimaginable connectivity into a metaphor for life itself.

In, we of the forsaken world, Bhat follows the fortunes of 16 people who live in four distinct places on the planet. The gripping stories include those of a man’s journey to the birthplace of his mother, a tourist town destroyed by an industrial spill; a chief’s second son born in a nameless remote tribe, creating a scramble for succession as their jungles are destroyed by loggers; a homeless, one-armed woman living in a sprawling metropolis who sets out to take revenge on the men who trafficked her; and a milkmaid in a small village of shanty shacks connected only by a mud and concrete road who watches the girls she calls friends destroy her reputation.

Like modern communication networks, the stories in , we of the forsaken world connect along subtle lines, dispersing at the moments where another story is about to take place. Each story is a parable unto itself, but the tales also expand to engulf the lives of everyone who lives on planet Earth, at every second, everywhere.

As Bhat notes, his characters “largely live their own lives, deal with their own problems, and exist independently of the fact that they inhabit the same space. This becomes a parable of globalization, but in a literary text.”

Bhat continues:  “I wanted to imagine a globalism, but one that was bottom-to-top, and using globalism to imagine new terrains, for the sake of fiction, for the sake of humanity’s intellectual growth.”

“These are stories that could be directly ripped from our headlines. I think each of these stories is very much its own vignette, and each of these vignettes gives a lot of insight into human nature, as a whole.”

we of the forsaken world takes pride of place next to such notable literary works as David Mitchell’s CLOUD ATLAS, a finalist for the prestigious Man Booker Prize for 2004, and Mohsin Hamid’s EXIT WEST, which was listed by the New York Times as one of its Best Books of 2017

Bhat’s epic also stands comfortably with the works of contemporary visionaries such as Umberto Eco, Haruki Murakami, and Philip K. Dick.

After your book was released, what was the first thing you did when getting ready for your book launch?

Well, my book in fact comes out in January, but I am currently on a tour around India, following a part of a tour in China, building up publicity. In order to get myself ready, in order to make sure that I could properly speak, I first had to clear my mind, of the anxiety, and of the doubt. This requires a moment in which you pause to yourself, and relax, and live with yourself. When we accept ourselves first and foremost as a member of the moment, and not of anything else, we then have enough of ourselves to face the world.

After that, what was your next step?

Well, then I just speak. I introduce myself, the bohemian lifestyle I have lived, the things I have done, and what I want to say. I read from my book, and I take questions.

Did you do anything different to spice up your website in lieu of your upcoming book release?

I’m still actually trying to get my website up and running! So, yes, hopefully my website is spicy enough. Considering I’ve lived all over the world, and I plan to use it as both a blog and photo space, I hope it gets enough traction.

Did you ever consider using a PR agency to help you promote your book or did you prefer the DIY route?

I’m currently using a few publicists to promote my book; one for media in the USA, another for book events in the USA, and another in India to get my book promoted there. My India tour has gone really well, and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my publicist. I’m still waiting for my USA tour to begin, so we will see how it goes there. But, generally, it is helpful to have a publicist, and hard to do it any other way.

Were finding reviews a top priority for you and, if yes, how did you approach that?

Again, my book hasn’t come out yet, so I’m still in the process of doing all this. But, yes, getting reviews, and good ones are important, and am still trying to figure out how to do it.

What are your views on social media for marketing your book?

I am naturally a social media user, because it is the only way to travel the world and also remain in touch with others. I also use Instagram to widely document said travels. So, when it comes to marketing my book, I am trying to learn how to use it well, but since I am starting out, it is easier said than done.

What social media has worked best for you?

I guess Facebook, only because most of my connections there were made naturally, organically, and since most people respond out of friendship, ie a sense of love and commitment, they would be the most likely ones to come to my events or buy my books. But, again, I haven’t really worked hard in trying to promote myself as a writer. I largely just work on my writing itself.

Did you write a press release and do you think it worked for you?

My publicist has written a press release.  I assume we will have to see once I see how it affects people or not.

Did you revamp your author’s page at Amazon in any way to prepare for the launch (https://authorcentral.amazon.com/)?

Actually, I just found out about this page right now, while reading these interview questions.  Just finished signing up now; can’t wait to use it. ;)

Did you have other books you offered for free in order to help sell your present book?

No, because a lot of my work was either written in other languages or written for the sake of artistic experimentation. I accepted them largely as things I wrote for myself, with little interest to a reader, so I just self-published them and let them go. They aren’t related in any way to the work of we, of the forsaken world... If a reader chooses to buy them, I assume it would be many years from now, when they are interested in some of the other things I have written. But I see them as fairly separate, so I don’t think the sales of one would affect the other.

Did you set up book signings and, if so, how did that work for you?

Yes, I have set up book signings largely in China and India. I’ve had some where only twelve people come, and then some where fifty come, but largely, only about ten people buy a book per event. For me, it is good, because it allows me to connect with readers and use my gift of gab for the sake of my art. But, I also know that it probably won’t make much of a difference in terms of sales in the long run.

Did you create a book trailer?

No, I haven’t. Since I write very literary fiction, I don’t think it would be of value for me.

Did you time your book launch around a certain holiday?

Well, I wanted to release my book in November, but my publicist advised me to get the release done in late January. This is because a lot of book venues and media people will be resting for the holidays, so it is best to release after. We will have to see how good of a decision it was after my book tour is finished; right now I am in the middle of it, so it is hard to know what is going well or not.

What was the best money you ever spent on your book launch?

I think at the moment, I can say hiring my publicist in India was a great decision. She got me booked for radio and television shows, and I am doing events at very big places like Oxford Bookstore and Crosswords. I am also getting more distribution in India, which is important, since I don’t yet have an Indian publisher. I really am building up a lot of credibility and exposure in India, and I owe a lot of it to her, so I am very glad I spent money on her.

Any tips for those authors wanting to set up a successful book launch?

I’m still in the process of doing my book launch, but one thing I can say is to learn to be patient, as success, if it happens, takes time, as well as a lot of hard work. You can’t expect everything at once; you have to let people slowly, and assuredly, trickle to you.

After your book was released, what was the first thing you did when getting ready for your book launch?

I prep much of the promotion before the actual book launch. I figure out budget, dates, reviews, and where I want to have the book featured. After the book launch, I make sure everything is going as it’s supposed to and add anything that I think would be useful.

After that, what was your next step?

Share. Share. Share. I use all types of social media including my blog site to announce the new book, but making sure to create interesting posts and not just spam. I also create specific blog posts that will post over the next couple of months that have to do with the book—for example, why and how I wrote the book, inspirations, interesting aspects of the characters, and anything else that would pertain to my book.
Did you do anything different to spice up your website in lieu of your upcoming book release?

Graphics and headers change to promote the book. I use snippets of early reviews to spice up the interest.

Did you ever consider using a PR agency to help you promote your book or did you prefer the DIY route?

I have a publisher for this particular three book series; they have a PR person and their own marketing division. Everything I do is supplemental and I’m very hands on sharing anything they do.

Were finding reviews a top priority for you and, if yes, how did you approach that?

Absolutely. I never realized fully how important reviews are before the actual launch. You have to realize that there are loads of books out there and you want to do everything possible to make your book stand out. You can form your own ARC circles with readers, for author groups with the same genre, and use NetGalley.

What are your views on social media for marketing your book?

There’s definitely a place for social media, but don’t let that be the only thing you do to market your book. There is also a very delicate balance of sharing your book on social media and turning it to the dreaded spamming. Stay mindful about social media and keep it fresh and interesting.

What social media has worked best for you?

I use Facebook, Twitter, and I’ve begun using Instagram. Once again, budget your time, amount of use, and schedule your posts. Use anything you can to automate your social media.

Did you revamp your author’s page at Amazon in any way to prepare for the launch (https://authorcentral.amazon.com/)?

This is very important to make sure your Amazon author’s page is kept up to date. I do this periodically and not just before every book launch.

What was the best money you ever spent on your book launch?

This is an interesting concept. I’ve found that some of the marketing and twitter sites that are the most inexpensive ($10 - $25) have been worth their weight in gold. Don’t assume that if something costs $500 it must be good. The second best money I’ve spent has been a comprehensive blog tour—the possibilities are endless and you meet new people to network with.

Any tips for those authors wanting to set up a successful book launch?

The best advice is to set a budget for both money and your time. Do your homework and be sure that you are promoting your type of book on the appropriate sites. A little bit of homework goes a long ways.

He looked down at the little girl, sleeping peacefully, her arms wrapped around a teddy bear. He knew he was the only one who could save her. He could let her sleep forever.

An eight-year-old girl, Chelsea Compton, is missing in Pine Valley, California and for Detective Katie Scott it’s a cruel reminder of the friend who disappeared from summer camp twenty years ago. Unable to shake the memories, Katie vows she won’t rest until she discovers what happened to Chelsea.

But as Katie starts to investigate, the case reveals itself to be much bigger and more shocking than she feared. Hidden deep in the forest she unearths a makeshift cemetery: a row of graves, each with a brightly coloured teddy bear.

Katie links the graves to a stack of missing-persons cases involving young girls—finding a pattern no one else has managed to see. Someone in Pine Valley has been taking the town’s daughters for years, and Katie is the only one who can stop them.

And then another little girl goes missing, snatched from the park near her home.

Katie’s still haunted by the friend she failed to protect, and she’ll do anything to stop the killer striking again—but can she find the little girl before it’s too late?

Compulsive and gripping crime fiction for fans of Lisa Regan, Rachel Caine and Melinda Leigh. Katie Scott’s first case will have you on the edge of your seat and gasping with shock.
